Having lived in Japan most of my career, it was not until later in life that I got into firearms and firearms training. My very first purchase was my Walther PPQ M2 in 9mm. I have experimented with numerous brands from the very expensive Atlas NYX to very economical firearms like my Arex Delta 2. During this journey I have recently found the CZ P10C.
Some history taken directly from the CZ website, ‘Česká zbrojovka’ translates to ‘Czech armory,’ and at one time there were many ‘CZs.’ Their sister company Česká zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod dates back to 1936, when it was established as a branch plant of Česká zbrojovka Strakonice. Production commenced on January 2, 1937 focusing on both military and civilian arms. The first products out the door were aircraft machine guns, military pistols and small-bore rifles, but during WWII the plant came under Nazi occupation and was forced to produce and repair military arms.
The 1970s and 1980s saw the Company merge with Agrozet Brno, allowing it to not only manufacture firearms but also diversify into the production of reduction gears and driveshaft casings for aircraft engines for Motorlet Praha and hydraulically powered and controlled tractor attachments for Zetor Brno.
In the US, they are headquartered in Kansas City, KS since 1998, CZ-USA is an importer, manufacturer and distributor of pistols, rifles, shotguns and suppressors. The exclusive US importer of rifles and pistols from Česká zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod, (CZUB) of the Czech Republic, CZ-USA also designs and imports the CZ-USA Field Sports line of shotguns from Turkey. Fine 1911s and revolvers are made by subsidiary Dan Wesson and a growing line of CZ-USA suppressors is available for rimfire and centerfire firearms.
In post-war Czechoslovakia, the plant returned to production of both military and civilian arms, in equal measures. In 1950 the Company became a separate state enterprise named ‘Přesné strojírenství Uherský Brod’ (The Precision Machine Tooling Company, Uherský Brod) and was reorganized into a number of specialized departments.
They have a vast lineup of consumer and military products:
- Handguns which include everything from the CZ P10C that I am interviewing here to higher end competition guns like the CZ 75 TS Chechmate in 9mm.
- The Scorpion/Bren lineup which includes exciting options like the CZ Bren 2 and the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 Carbine.
- Rifles from that include everything from hunting to precision.
- 4 “website pages” of shotguns.
- The exciting lineup from recently acquired Dan Wesson.
- The even produce a few suppressors.
As of writing this review I have put 450 rounds thought the CZ P10C with zero malfunctions.
