The True Story of Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving will be the first holiday season in my adult life. For most of my pre-adult life, we will be without Rush Limbaugh talking about the true story of Thanksgiving followed by an entire month of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Music. It brings tears to my eyes because I miss him, and I am sad that my boys will not enjoy Rush as I did while growing up.

II wanted to take a moment to remember Rush this holiday season and remind everyone about his annual tradition of reading The True Meaning of Thanksgiving to his Audience.

Rush typically read this story from his second book The Way Things Ought to Be and the second book is See, I Told You So. “Chapter 6, Dead White Guys, or What the History Books Never Told You: The True Story of Thanksgiving.”

But later in his career, he added a second series of Children’s books called the Rush Revere Series. These books are a fantastic series of children’s books aimed at helping young people understand the truth about America’s founding. The first book in this series is Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims.

In Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, Rush went into much more detail about the history of Thanksgiving. “The Indians, the Native Americans who helped the arriving Pilgrims and what that story is and how the True Story of Thanksgiving has been obscured by what is taught — what I was taught, you were probably taught.”
