Each week, I send an article sharing my thoughts on the transformational journey to become a better father, man, husband, or version of yourself.
I am not always an expert. I am learning, improving, and building new systems that create discipline and success. I can learn a lot from all of you, and we can all learn a lot from each other.
I want to share this journey with you. I want to help everyone gain the experience and confidence they need to improve in the areas of:
- Relationships with your family, friends, and co-workers. What systems do we need to implement to be better fathers? How do we get off our butts to play with our kids? How do we become better husbands? How do I become that boss who can lead a team to success? How do I openly instill my guiding principles into my family, friends, and community? How do I educate my kids? How do I protect my family and community?
- Calibration and mental self-awareness. Any journey to improvement starts with mental self-awareness. We need to take a personal inventory of what is happening in our heads and be open to areas we need to improve. Calibrationis a self-assessment and adjustment to enhance one’s abilities, mindset, or behavior. It involves a continuous evaluation of our current state. We should always work to build the habits and systems that create the best opportunities for personal growth. We should make intentional changes to achieve greater accuracy, balance, and effectiveness in personal goals and performance.
- Health and Fitness as a guiding principle. We must build systems and habits that make exercise a regular part of our lives. Good nutrition is another critical area in creating good habits. Building systems that ensure that you eat a balanced diet and exercise are critical. You need the correct food for your body to maintain all the systems you put in place. Without the proper nutrition and training, you will not have the energy to focus on the most critical things in your life, like playing with your kids. The right food will give you the brain power and focus you need to focus on work, writing, or projects. Nutrition is not only what we eat. It is also a process of continuous learning. We must build the experience we need to maximize output from our food.
- Contribution to others. This is really about giving our time, energy, and resources to benefit others and create value in the world. It is all about focusing on the importance of service, generosity, and positively impacting the lives of those around us. It is a mindset and a vision that looks at building your vision and the skill stack you need to have a purpose-driven life. It is the culmination of all your experience, skills, accomplishments, and effort to extend beyond personal gain to support and uplift your family, community, and society.
Let’s start a journey together and challenge ourselves to build more knowledge, create new skills, become healthier, and strive toward wisdom and discipline in everything we do.
